Everything Is Romantic

I loved Charli Xcx new album “brat” she really speaks to this concept in one of her songs (“Everything is romantic“). She mentions many things that give such a mental picture like: lace curtains and bad tattoos, wearing sandals on a scooter and the memory of lemons on the ground. In the lyrics, she repeats “fall in love again and again” and lists those same things some more.

It’s not something that can be easily defined at first, but when a new romantic vibe is felt, the small details and sensations that surround it become unforgettable. I’m not very idealistic or starry-eyed about love but I know the buzz of a crush can be intoxicating.

My heart is pretty closed off lately, but I’ll try to list some gestures and activities that used to seem romantic –  candle light, a floral bouquet, taking a long walk, a thoughtful act or gift, maybe take a light recreational drug or drink. Sorry if that is cringe! I wish my demands sounded more poetic and could be laid over a hyperpop beat 💐
