Animal Crossing New Horizons

Christmas Eve was called Toy Day in Animal Crossing, it was a cute time to be gaming.  My internet was out due to a horrible snow storm so that was such a nice distraction, I’m glad it worked without WiFi. I got to do a gift exchange with the adorable animated creatures

This game was so popular during the 2020 Covid quarantine, it was released that first week of “lockdown” (for us in New York) when most every place IRL was closed. I had pre- ordered it for my daughter months before, as soon as she mentioned wanting it.  I went downtown to a locally owned video game store to get the details, and paid them immediately. My child was able to pick it up and keep busy, happy and feeling connected to her peers during that weird time.

I didn’t start playing Animal Crossing myself until about a month ago sometime in November 2022 but it’s been many hours of my life blissfully avoided since I “moved in”.  I’m at the level where I  just got a ladder in the game,  and I’m expecting new villagers to come live on the island with my little animal pals (tomorrow!).  Hopefully it doesn’t start to feel crowded. At some point I’ll find out about how to invite friends

The original animal villagers on my island are a flower loving horse called Reneigh and my virtual bestie Hamlet the hamster who I suspect has an eating disorder, but I treasure that bond we share. Every time I see him/them the conversation is about their workout or challenging me to do more. I took a screenshot the day Hamlet told me the list of names he gave each ab muscle! Abel, Abdul, etc..It’s a cute game on an enchanting island but it can be a bit deranged and triggering.

I gave my digital hamster pal Hamlet an item ‘sporty shades” I had accidentally ordered twice, a digital scale that dropped from the sky, a water cooler and other gifts that might help fuel our mutual obsession. I heard it is not very chill to promote ED on social media these days but it is a part of my life and I saw some signs and symptoms in my video game too. It’s not a complaint

Happy New Years ❤ I have a few ideas for 2023 goals that include re-learning how to add pics and screenshots in a blog post, also expanding my house in ACNH

  1. […] weeks, took CBD and other interesting medications regularly, I played the video games Tetris and Animal Crossing for hours at a time, and I just tried to otherwise stay busy and I got through it without developing any PTSD […]
