Naked Wrist

I left the house without my watch on and it’s been ruining my day since I noticed, about 2 minutes into my morning bus ride.  It’s not something that has ever happened to me since I started wearing a smartwatch! I need it to track my steps and count calories, time things, change the song that’s playing in my earbuds, and other imperative matters (just kidding, none of that is important, but I really prefer to have it on). There was one day around 2015 or so when I forgot my phone at home, and had to suffer without one for several hours- that was a much more annoying situation. I’m usually so organized and routine oriented, it’s just not like me to forget an essential item. It was my first time to leave home in about a week, so I’m going to blame the holidays for disrupting my usual patterns.

I thought about buying another watch as soon as a store might be open, and I’ve considered it a few times throughout the day. But I’m trying to be strong for a little longer and not shop stupidly. I tried on a bracelet in a store earlier, just so my wrist wouldn’t feel naked! It cost less than a smartwatch, but I didn’t 100% love it and decided to pass. I even went on the grocery store’s website and a florist’s site to see how much a wrist corsage costs (they start around $30). It was very tempting, especially since they offer delivery options, but I didn’t get one of those either! It’s such a cold and snowy day that I don’t think a corsage would fit the vibe with my flannel shirt, coat, and gloves.

Now I’m almost ready to go home and be reunited with my watch. What a relief that will be! If you have experienced something like this before, or are someone that it happens to often, please feel free to share how you cope with the painful consequences of forgetfulness.

  1. I track steps on my phone, but at work have a habit of leaving the phone at the desk and walking away for this or that. It frustrates me so much because I know the steps won’t be accurate, but it shouldn’t. I mean, I’m not logging that for anyone else to see. 🙂
