Current World Events and Nearby Crime

Hackers in Ukraine have been messing with the digital payment systems in Russia, that is exciting. I heard they are making ATMs unusable and blocking people from using public transportation too. Hopefully they get the OK from USA and everyone else to use better weapons as deep into their enemy’s territories as possible (or just go for it anyway). It’s been way too long this war has dragged on destroying Ukraine, and I have no military training but it seems like this could be quickly ceased somehow. I watched the movie “Oppenheimer” recently, I’m sure there are even more modern weapons to do it more precisely

In the UK there was a Taylor Swift themed dance event for small children, and for some reason a teen boy went there to stab people! Like a dozen or so people were knifed and so far three young girls died, that is horrific.  Guns are not really a big hobby over there so they’re lucky it wasn’t more deadly. Taylor Swift has issued some apology or condolences, I cannot stand her (media oversaturation is so off-putting). I haven’t looked into many more details, though I.m curious to learn if this was a young ISIS guy or just some incel, maybe it’s just boys being boys.

The Olympic games are popping in France and Simone Biles has got a fresh pile of gold medals to add onto her collection. She is a tiny short gal with anxiety and so am I, so I feel connected to her and always hope she’s happy. She was molested by a prolific abuser (while the FBI ignored numerous reports from gymnastic families for over a decade) I can’t watch that sport without thinking about it. The molester ruined so many girls’ lives and he also ruined my enjoyment of a rare sport I actually want to see. I watched the 2000 Sydney Olympic games on TV when I used to live in Paris, France. I was pregnant at the time with my only child so that is a lovely memory I keep in mind whenever these worldwide competitions roll around.

One of my neighbors was killed in his home recently. I don’t want to add too many details about it or link to the local news articles (since reporters have included the address to my apartment building) but “the story” is being told in a very specific way that ignores some details and oddly focuses on others. The killer is in jail awaiting trial, and maybe I’ll consider writing more about the events another time. The man who died, I didn’t know well at all, but have met many times and saw him often in the hallways or nearby shops, we waited together at the same bus stop. He was a friendly extrovert who never made a perverted comment or demanded my attention (notable traits, sorry, but men can be so repulsive). Over the years he was always chill and friendly to me. The journalists have staked out their angle to discuss his murder, which I am so mystified to see, but they did share more details about his life than I ever knew and it’s very upsetting. R.I.P!

Abortion is getting banned in more and more US states. I myself love babies so it’s hard to feel too upset but I understand there are gruesome birth defects that might cause a mother to want to get rid of her fetus (especially in the USA with no healthcare system). Pregnancy makes women gain such significant weight, I think that should be a valid enough reason to terminate pregnancies as well. It is such a complex and controversial topic for Americans. Let pregnant people do what they want, in my opinion!

About two weeks ago, a young guy took a few shots at Donald Trump during one of his hate rallies in Pennsylvania. It was an impressive day to scroll around social media and see a heated discourse unfold.  Gun violence is so common to hear and read about so it’s exciting whenever a celebrity is affected as well. Conspiracy theories litter every comment section on a news article and the one that rings most true to me I’ve seen speculated is that the only blood drawn from Donald Trump was probably from some shrapnel or minor grazing. He needs to stop saying he was shot, but seems incapable of not lying.

Joe Biden got coronavirus!  I had predicted his death before the US election, so I’ll still be watching carefully for his recovery even though I’m delighted he already decided to quit running for president. He suggested the current Vice Prez Kamala Harris take up his campaign resources and run instead, and while she does seem more lively and coherent than Biden, I’m sticking with my intuitive forecast that it will be a Trump victory in November 2024. It is not something I want! I’m unlikely to vote at all, certainly not for the mango hue rapist conman I first learned about from the satire of his divorce in 1990’s era Mad Magazine. But he has a violently persuasive voter base that tends to get their way in America!  The courts that decide contested elections will side with him, I have no doubt. The deplorable ammosexuals will persuade protesters to shut the fuck up (forever)! There is a $3300 limit allowed for individuals to donate towards a political campaign so I hope anyone inspired to pointlessly urge me to “Vote Blue” has also sent the maximum worthwhile amount, it will mean more than any vote. I live in a Blue state that will choose Kamala Harris, so she doesn’t need my voice in the election here- I’m considering writing someone in but I’m still not sure who it should be. Deez Nuts was the big one from 2016 and Bernie Sanders was a good recommendation to add in 2020. I’ll keep an eye out for more discussion along these lines and update again at some point. The election is still months away

Thanks for reading this and I hope everyone is well. Sorry if the blog post is too unhinged. The world seems like a terrible place to live sometimes but it’s helpful to unload in a journal entry!
